So the people who are actually paying real money for virtual gold are more worthy of GW than we bunch who earn it "free"? The logic of this sentence is uterly ridiculous, it's not about money.

Come on people, stop for a minute or two looking at your own gain, you HAVE the BMP now, you enjoy it, you have these great looking weapons. We are reliving great GW moments. Do you want to prevent other people to get access to this? Seriously, stop talking and think about it for a moment, start thinking that may be the people you're talking about (lazy, greedy, blablabla) are not the majority of people. What about the casual player who didn't see the advertisement? And the one who had to stop playing for a little while due to personal circumstance? And the one who tried to get a credit card but couldn't? And the one who... and the one who...?

Once more, I'll ask again: are you ok with preventing other people from getting access to these stories (not the weapons)?

If it's about money for you, then they'll have to pay more. If it's about exclusivity, then they'll only have it (a lot) later. If it's about weapons, they won't have them (or only a very limited number?) If it's about pride, we can't do anything for you!

How so? Anet had a promotion for the "bonus" mission pack, you paid so much in the online store and got a free mission pack with it. Those that chose to take Anet up on their offer were rewarded with the mission pack. Those that stood around saying how it's a lame idea etc, etc, didn't get it and now complain on every BMP thread. How are we selfish? We just took the offer Anet gave to us. How is Anet selfish for giving customers a free mission pack for using the online store? They aren't.

I'm completely okay with preventing other people from getting access to these stories for free. Believe it or not, some of us didn't get the BMP for the weapons, but for the extra content. The weapons are just a bonus.

A lot of us made sacrifices to get these missions. Some of us gave up the boxed content and the printed artwork and manuals for the missions. Some people paid for a few character slots they didn't need to get the BMP so that they could still get the boxed content. Some people paid a lot more for EotN than they would have to get the mission pack. I myself sacrificed the boxed content, and I paid $10 more for EotN so that I qualified for the mission pack. Over here in Australia, the RRP was $49.95. Since I live in Australia, the online store charges me in pounds, which meant I paid 24.99 GBP (which is almost $60 AUD).

Now, I don't really care if they offer the BMP at some point in the future from the online store, or offer another promotion. I understand that some people had circumstances that resulted in them not being able to fulfill the previous promotion requirements. I do care if everyone gets access to this content for free, after so many people made sacrifices to qualify. After all, it did state on the press release that this would be exclusive content to that promotion. At least, I take this statement to mean that it is exclusive (or, at least, suggesting enough that I'll want to fulfill the promotion requirements, in case I miss out):

Weapons remain exclusive to those who qualified for the promo. Just like with Pre-order weapons, which are also promos.

You ask to get it for free while you seem to know the cost of making the missions?

The BMP should be given out (completely, including weapons) for free like they did with the Sorrows Furnace update a while back. It's a good way to overcome the period between GW and GW2.

Personally I like to collect videogames and have a physical box with all the stuff that comes with it. I bought Profecies, Factions CE, Nightfall CE, and GWEN all in a box. Collectors don't need all that digital stuff. At least not me. Thats why I also didn't bought GWEN online with the BMP included. Even if it had the coolest of the coolest features included in the digital download, I just couldn't care less!

I also think that the people who played GW deserve the right to know what happened to Gwen and all the other characters in the GW saga. Now I feel a little like a horse thats was running after a carot and after a while I needed to pay for the carrot...

No thanks, I'd rather stick with my boxed GWEN and have no BMP at all.

Funnily, I'm one of those too...

Quote:

"Sacrifices" is a bit too strong a word. Unless it's here to highlight the fact that these people also have to pay the price of these "sacrifices" (I too at first had to give up the idea of buying the box and artwork, but then realised what a great idea this is for environment and finally bought the PC Gamer with stunning artwork)

Quote:

Well they made a decision, no one forced them. But now "these" (not generalising) people want to force this great bonus (akin to SF but in a smaller scale?) to be only for them, no one else should have access to it. It's done and never again will it see the light. "For ME because I am not lazy and did these sacrifices"?

Quote:

A lot more? I paid £25 while I could have it at £18 (well if I was to wait around 1 month, which is not the same). And that's the only thing we'll ever pay to get access to all this content, no monthly fee remember?

I'm in the UK and it's the same deal. Australia wasn't different. Is it a rip off? It's roughly the price of any great game out there (I'm regularly looking a game prices in Game stores, it's even cheaper than things like Crysis, GOW, etc.)

By the way, exclusive does not necessarily mean that it is only available from that promotion (I checked the definition in www.askoxford.com), simply that in the time frame decided by Anet this will be the only means of accessing it. (just imagine, for 10 seconds, the frustration of those who honestly try to get the BMP without succcess, and who are reading what's said on this thread ...)

There are pre-paid credits cards for those that do not have one or are not over 18yo in all countries where GW is available in stores.

Allowing further acquisition of the Bonus pack would be like allowing to acquire again preorder or collector stuff.
I mostly agree. I'm sure I said this before... I got the bonus pack with the understanding that it was a limited-time thing. While I wouldn't ragequit GW if they ran the offer again, it'd be sort of annoying. "Quick, take advantage of this offer! It won't happen again! ...Juuuuuuuuust kidding. ^_^"

If I can't have the holiday hats I've missed, I don't see why people should get another crack at the mission packs. Spiteful? Not really, just being fair.

EDIT: And for those of you whining that you're missing out on the ever-important lore, just check the wiki. The dialogue and stories will be up there in no time, if they aren't already.

If all other players that did not get the bonus mission pack for free, get it Free now, then my "Free Bonus Mission Pack" will become "Paid Bonus Mission Pack".

But I do agree that the bonus mission pack will now become regular mission pack. and put up for sale in the online store. I think Arena Net did not develop a way to give players mission in a talking book form just for the sake of the bonus mission pack alone, there will be more mission packs hopefully, not letting the well done talking book go to waste.

i can't decide who's funnier
the ones who say noone forced them to buy smth to get the BMP
or the ones who whine that they had to forcefully buy smth just to qualify
and don't reply that noone forced you cause if you do you don't have the right to whine as in the quote in the first place
i don't really care about the bmp anymore
even if it was made available for purchase in the online store i won't be able to get it except they add more payment options
the thing that really disgusted me is how people who got the bmp are so aggressive possessive and selfish posting like mad noone else ever should access this content which by far cannot be compared with the pre orders or collector editions because it has much much much more to it
saw those ugly faces and realised what a rotten comunity this is
and of course i'm let down by arena net that they started separating the player base like that
and PLEEEEEZ don't start biting my ass cause i will only think of all of you as even more pathetic than you look to me right now

oh and if someone wants their box so badly i can send them mine any time
i don't really care about those boxes it's just that the only way i can buy the game is in a store and they sell it with a box
next time i hope you will let me use your credit/debit card

what about those who spent a fortune in the online store outside of promotion
as many have said noone made you do it
and they didn't state they're not going to make it available after so you have no right to whine if they do too

as for generalising i think i described that part of comunity i called rotten
those who so violently deny the availability of the pack and bash at people who didn't/couldn't get it
i honestly think they should visit a doctor

as for the bmp whatever happens in the end it's all about money

How will you look at me if I'm telling you the following:

You're generalising, this is only GWG, and even here there's not (that we know of) a vast majority against this. Furthermore, "rotten" is a strong word, that shouldn't be used so easily in a broad context.

And what about they offer it to people who will have to spend even more time and even more money that you did? I mean, if people want to play the "who has the biggest one", it's an obvious next step in the direction you're pointing at. Next a title for the one that got the BMP first and the one who spent the most money in store?

politely i disagree as you need the full statement from the GW site on this which states that it has to be exactly the account that qualifies during that time period

Quote:
The Details
The Bonus Mission Pack will release in November. This promotion is non-transferable and is limited to one per account. The Bonus Pack will only be available to the exact account that fulfills this promotion in the in-game store or the exact account on which a qualifying Guild Wars product is activated that has been purchased in the PlayNC store.

1. This was advertised for months. If you don't play for months at a time, you can count on missing big things that you'll regret later.

2. The amount was what, $29.99 USD? If it takes you more than a couple of months to get together thirty bucks, you have bigger problems than missing out on a GW promo. Even if you're young, which I'm assuming you are, you can ask your parents to either let you use their card or do chores to earn the cash. You can get one of those prepaid cards at grocery stores these days.

3. People aren't being snotty or selfish, so don't get bent out of shape about the community. Compared to other MMO communities out there, GW is one of the most supportive and helpful. We're just explaining why the opportunity's over and trying to get you to understand that it's now as obtainable as a Tengu mask. Nobody's getting any personal satisfaction from having the mission pack while others don't.

Its called a "promotion" My local food store just did one where if you purchased two 12-packs of pepsi you got a free 2 litre bottle. So what would you do cry that you didn't get a free bottle because you didnt buy the 12 packs? Its a friggin promotion. I did what I had to to get the BMP I WILL be pissed if they make it free for all.
